“The Dark Ivy”-CH2,P3

I looked at Mandy, “How does a Tornado that killed only two people can end the world?” and I rolled my eyes at the man. “Wasn’t Polka 2 the safest planet?! I thought they prohibited the use of that technology the moment it went public.” I said.

“It is probably another fake video on Planitune” Mandy said.

Tornado was the name of a technology developed by Matoon Inc. The company, or should I say the Empire, which was built On Talsie, the moon of Polka-4. The tech could control how people act – Those Gummies were just tiny does of that tech. It was supposed to help people with disabilities to improve their movements. But it could have been used as the exact reverse in the wrong hands. It could disable the connection between the brain and muscles and control the body with some program lines. It caused so many disasters; that was why they prohibited the company from using it. Apparently, someone got their hands on the technology. Well, I don’t know; I don’t care. I’m going to live my happily ever after here on the Palmoon.

Palmoon was one of Polka-2’s moons. All these beautiful beaches, palm trees, and everything were under a dome with oxygen. It was where rich people came to have fun.

I went back to my cabin to call Steve, but the door was open. It felt like someone was in the room. My eyes were wide open, and I was ready to rip anyone apart. I went to the balcony, pushed the back window to open, and got inside. I saw a figure, and I grabbed the neck from behind and knocked him to the ground.

“hey!” he said, suffocating.

I saw his face. Speaking of the devil, “Steve?! what are you doing here?” I let him go and turned the lights on.

“Were you going to kill me just like that? You didn’t even know who I was?” there was fear in his voice.

“I wasn’t expecting you! I thought you were…” I sat down on the bed, “I wanted to call you. Do you want anything to drink?” I asked.

“No, thank you. I nee…”

“need your help?” I said it before he could finish his sentence. “No, I’m out. There is no helping you. But, there is also a problem. Tara is missing.” I breathe out.

“How long has she been missing?” he said.

“Almost two days,” I said. I knew my fairy tale life here was over.

“Don’t you think you should have told me sooner?” he was not that surprised! That was strange.

“I was going to. I had a lead and a bit of an issue I was trying to figure out.” I was ashamed and disappointed in myself. I was dancing and having fun while Tara was missing. That was not really my choice, but it felt terrible.

He breathed out, “Tara is at the compound. That is a part of the reason I’m here,” he continued, “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t important. There are millions of lives at stake here. Unfortunately Polkamo way will burn to ashes if we do nothing, including your beloved island.” He said with hopelessness in his voice and walked towards the wall.

He put his right hand on the wall, took a deep breath, and turned around, facing me. “I screwed up. You are the only one who I trust. Please just for several hours. I’m sure you heard about the Tornado at the Metro station earlier today. We got the man who did it, but he is not cooperating.” he came closer to me, “This is just the beginning of collapsing worlds. Ambassadors are here, and they will do everything in their power to tear this universe apart.’ he said helplessly and kept looking at me.

“You know, I’m finally happy here. I do not want to jeopardize this for anything.” I said. Then I took a deep breath and continued, “only for several hours, and I will be back here. And you will never, EVER, disturb me again,” I said, pointing my fingers at him. I knew that was not going to happen.

He put his hands up “fine.” he kept looking at me, then he took a deep breath and continued, “let’s go then.”

Something was not right, “How did Tara get there? Is she ok?” I asked.

“Yes, She is fine,” he paused for a second, “She didn’t come to the compound by herself. She was a hostage,” he said.

Oh no! It was all the stranger, Mike. I heard something, “Wait a minute. Are you alone?” I said. I could feel someone else was here too.

“Yes, it’s just me,” Steve said.

“It’s probably nothing. Let’s go,” I said.
